Retail Reset
Building Narrative is the recipient of the 2020 Hong Kong Kong Institute of Architects CPD fund. The grant is awarded to one local architectural practice each year to investigate a topic of choice.
Our one year project involves tracking the design evolution of neighbourhood retail centres as community amenity in terms of access, transportation links, resident services and collective identity.
In the face of growing health and sustainability concerns, and the needs of a greying population, retail centres are unique sites for architects to intervene and equip communities with public spaces fit for the future.
The project is a collaboration with Architectural Photographer Kris Provoost and Designer Don Hong of Kongcept852.
